Sounds Like A Physicist, Looks Like A Physicist, Tastes Like A ...
To call PhysLink a Yahoo! for Physicists would be a disservice to the physics resource. Yes, it's laid out in a similar portal/community format as the Yahoo! empire; yes, it started in the mid-90s as well (as a page on GeoCities, no less). PhysLink, however, still feels true to both its roots and its original intentions - to be the ultimate physics resource and community for physicists on the Web. Like most physicists we've met, it's crammed with useful, practical knowledge (everything from the latest science news to grad school advice), bedecked with scientific tools (easy references to constants and equations and a pop-up scientific calculator), and yet still willing not to take itself completely seriously (physics 'fun' to include three styles of Einstein e-cards you can send your friends). And with a more aesthetic, better organized design than previous iterations, it's even a classy dresser - which is more than we can say about most physicists.

We've seen sites seeking to do this sort of thing before: but few containing such a wealth of information, and none in such gook looking and well organised packaging. Excellent.'
'Even if your main interest isn't in the rarified atmosphere of academia, you should visit this site and look around. It was not what I expected. I had to make sure that I was at the right URL. What a nice surprise. A highly technical, focused site that doesn't look like it was designed by someone that was thinking about something else the whole time. This site sings. Makes you want to hang around and see what's up.
The web has taken off because it gives opportunity to so many to finally present their information with the style and caring they have always longed for. They love their subject matter and consider it exciting. It is what makes their world go 'round. They want to convey that feeling of excitement to the visitor.
When I see a site like PhysLink it stops me in my tracks. If there is information here that the site developers place such high value on that they would put in the extreme effort of designing a state-of-the-art visually beautiful and professionally structured site, than I just have to look a bit deeper and see what is happening here. Maybe my college classes would have taught me more if the instructors and professors had cared as much about physics as the creators of PhysLink.'
