Did you know that there are approximately 900 species of tarantulas known to man? According to Wikipedia, the name "tarantula" comes from the town of Taranto in Southern Italy and was originally used for an unrelated species of European wolf spider. The name was borrowed when Europeans explored areas where these large spiders were common. Despite their dangerous appearance and reputation, none of the tarantula species are known to have a bite that is deadly to humans. This specimen of a REAL tarantula is great for looking at details under a microscope, or for having in the classroom. This is a great educational resource for the young science student or for the serious entomologist!

Features:
  • 1 tarantula mounted on wire web, encased in acrylic
  • Specimen is packed in an included gift box

Box Size: 6.75in (17.15cm) x 5.50in (13.97cm) x 2.00in (5.08cm)

Recommended for ages 10 and older.
