This is an internship opportunity with the possibility to grow into a paid part-time position during the school year. It involves researching, creating, editing, and publishing online science content. The right candidate will learn all the stages of publishing process by actually creating interesting scientific content and seeing it published online to millions of readers.

Focus will be given to physics and astronomy, but other sciences such as biology, chemistry, geology, etc. will be represented as well. Here are some of the tasks:

  • Research, write, review, edit and revise daily science facts, images, links;
  • Research and create a database of schools and other education/learning centers;
  • Research and create a database of science subject-matter categorical hierarchies, conforming to national and selected state science standards;
  • Interact with existing and new science writers;
  • Get involved in online content publishing.

Qualifications

The right candidate should have strong English writing and editing skills. Being proficient with text editing, MS Word, spreadsheets, MS Excel, and computers in general is a requirement. Knowledge of physics, astronomy and other sciences will be beneficial. Experience with online publishing, web content editing, HTML, databases, SQL and Cold Fusion programming is a plus. Basic communication and presentation skills will be also strongly considered.
