The Engineering Physics Department of École Polytechnique de Montréal is seeking candidates for a Tenure-Track position in the area of photonic materials and devices. The applicant should have a PhD degree in Engineering Physics, Physics or related areas, and experience in photonics, in particular in the development, design, fabrication, and characterization techniques suitable for active and passive devices and subsystems. The successful candidate will be expected to teach, in French, both undergraduate and graduate courses, and to supervise graduate students. He or she will also be expected to develop a strong independent research program and to collaborate with department colleagues.

The candidate will join a department with an engineering physics program which particularly focuses on photonics and micro- and nanotechnology. The department research laboratories have recently benefited from major equipment grants from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation. Research presently carried out covers a wide spectrum of physics and its applications in areas such as fibre optics, semiconductor lasers, non-linear optics, thin films, surfaces, interfaces, and laser, plasma and epitaxial fabrication techniques.
