The Engineering Physics Department of École Polytechnique invites applications for a Tenure-Track position in the area of MEMS/NEMS Systems. The Engineering Physics program was recently modified to include a new concentration on Micro/Nano Technologies. The Department research labs have benefited from major equipment grants from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation. Research carried out in the department covers a wide spectrum in physics and its applications in Photonics and in Micro/Nano Technologies, including Thin Films, Surfaces, Laser and Plasma Materials Deposition, MOCVD, MBE, etc. Materials studied and characterized include semi-conductors, ceramics, polymers and magnetic materials. Department faculty members are also involved in numerous research networks (visit our Web site: www.phys.polymtl.ca.).

The department is seeking candidates with a Ph.D. in Engineering Physics or a related area, and a background in the design and fabrication of MEMS/NEMS systems, particularly for biomedical, telecommunications or aerospace applications. Preference will be given to members of the Quebec Order of Engineers or candidates eligible to become members. The successful candidate will be expected to teach, in French, both undergraduate and graduate courses, and to supervise graduate students. He or she will also be expected to develop an independent research program and collaborate with department colleagues.

Applicants should submit, as soon as possible, a detailed resume, photocopies of diplomas, a clear and concise statement of teaching and research interests and objectives, reprints of the most pertinent publications, as well as the name, postal and e-mail addresses, and telephone number of three professional references.
